Rafel Serra Torrent

Building engineer, interior designer and illustrator. In 1994, he begins studying the degree in Technical Drawing (1994-1999). He both combines his studies and the work in the family business, a carpenter’s workshop. He gets here his knowledge on cabinetmaking, as well the passion for making hand-made designs in wood. Later, he studies the degree of Interior Design at School of Fine Arts in Olot (1999-2002). When he graduated, he begins a new degree on Building Engineering at the Design High School Elisava, in Barcelona (2002-2006). Afterwards, he completes his studies with several courses on illustration and concept art at the School of Visual Arts Joso, in Barcelona.
In 2002, he takes part in a collaborative project with other students, “La llum del nou mil·leni”, which wins the “Award for Girona region Architecture”. Next year, this project is also short-listed for the FAD Architecture Awards, for the section called “Ephemeral spaces”.
In 2011, he takes part, as project manager, in the works on building “Pocafarina House”, which is also short-listed for the “Girona Region Architecture Awards”.
Several of his projects and collaborations have been published on internet websites and in the press (“Domus”, “Mark”, “Arquitectura y Diseño” and “Magazine of La Vaguardia”). His works also appeared on an architecture TV program for Barcelona Television (“De Visita”).
Since 2006, he has worked for several design and architecture firms. He’s currently working as a freelance, at his own office in Barcelona. He’s involved in working on a variety of projects regarding the areas of architecture, interior design and illustration.
